This is the story of my darling second daughter Eloise and her fight to stay alive.Eloise was born on the 7th September 2000 at 11.33am at 32 weeks gestation following premature rupture of my membranes. She weighed a very respectable 4lb and 15oz. Eloise was taken to N.I.C.U. and placed in an incubator but she required no ventilation or oxygen therapy. Her only problems over her first 11 days of life were poor temperature control and too sleepy to feed. She was bottle fed and topped up via an N.G. tube initially until she took most of her feeds orally. After a few days on a post natal ward with me she was allowed home.
Eloise has regular follow ups for the first year of her life with the Neonatal team and they had no concerns regarding her development. She was a fit and healthy little girl , who thrived. Eloise soon caught up with her peers and was doing well at Nursery.
Life was good for our family of four but a devastating blow was about to hit us......
